A fundamental part of corrective exercise is to restore the optimal functioning of muscles as they act on joints. The cumulative effect of stress and injury leads to adhesions (tender spots), tightness, limitations, and pain in the muscle and surrounding fascia. Corrective SMR seeks to release adhesions through targeted pressure, static stretching and active stretching. These adhesions can cause direct or referred pain. A key step is to apply this technique BEFORE engaging in moderate activity or exercising.

Using resistance bands versus traditional weights can increase muscle tone while taking it easy on the joints. The full-body workouts will help to strengthen muscles needed for good posture, better range-of-motion and a stable core. For a modest $50 investment, you can have a full set of resistance bands which gives you a home gym in one small bag.
